Uniform Security v. Plain Clothed Investigators

A majority of all uniform security companies have strict observe and report policies. Over time this has become a policy well known to the criminal element. In some circumstances utilizing a uniform security company will benefit as a deterrent. However, to the experienced criminal uniform security does little to deter them from committing their criminal acts. In many cases, it allows them to commit crimes more easily as they can simply look for the uniform security officer or the flashing beacon on top of a marked security patrol vehicle, allowing them to commit their crimes in an area away from that officer. Many criminals do not even fear detection from a uniform security officer, because they know there is really nothing that will be done to them if spotted, with the exception of observing and reporting.

The use of plain clothed private investigators to perform criminal suppression operations at various high crime locations has increased dramatically over the last several years. The random use of non-uniformed “undercover” agents allows an opportunity for investigators to observe the criminal activity take place and then identify and apprehend the suspects for prosecution. The use of plain clothed agents also has financial benefits to the clients. With the use of plain clothed agents the criminal element once aware, will have no idea if security is present or not, thus allowing the client to spend less money on security, while still maintaining this fear factor that keeps the criminal element guessing.

While our suppression services vary to our clients specific needs we are frequently contacted to assist with parking lot crime issues such as prostitution, narcotics activity, vandalism, auto theft break-ins and a myriad of other criminal complaints.
